Dear Senator Corbett,
I am writing
to urge you to support AB 977 (Ma), which overturns state pre-emption of local
pesticide regulations. Local residents are best equipped to decide what toxic
exposures they are willing to accept for themselves and their families. The pesticide
pre-emption law was passed in the 1980s to benefit forest products companies who
wanted to aerially spray herbicides without regard to the impact on residents
of Mendocino County. Business interests should never be more important than the
health and safety of individual Californians. Please vote in favor of AB 977 and
return the decision making to those communities directly affected by pesticide
