2 January 8, 2008 - CDFA
LBAM Enviromental Advisory Task Force Meeting,
in San Jose, CA. The
first 40 minutes are a bit fuzzy, but after that it is more clear. Audio starts
with Roltsch presentation of LBAM biocontrol update. Use AGENDA
to follow along with individual speakers.
Listen Lunch interview with Duane Schnabel, primary biologist for CDFA.
This is a short video showing the difference
in Australia's control costs as opposed to their actual crop loss caused
by LBAM. The CDFA reports that over 600 million dollars in damages could
result here from LBAM if they don't conduct their aerial spray operations.
They say they've come to that conclusion by evaluating Australia's costs.
Watch the video to see those costs.
On October 16, 2007 Jim Warren with
the USDA told the Santa Cruz Board of Supervisors and the rest of the community
not to worry because the number of microcapsules / microspheres per square
foot would be an average of 33. However, Duane Schnabel, primary biologist
for the CDFA, collected and analyzed the collection cards from the October,
2007 spraying in Monterey and found that in spray zones, there were cards
that had 809 microcapsules / microspheres per square foot. We cannot
trust their assurances of safety and estimated exposure levels!

October 3rd, 2007 - CDFA meeting that was intended to be private, but became
public due to a media leak. The public wasn't too amused at the state officials'
misleading attempts to quell valid concerns.
